They say that ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ and in Morgan Hutchinson’s case, that certainly rings true. After the birth of her daughter, she struggled to find stylish clothes to meet the frequent and sometimes wardrobe-challenging demands of breastfeeding. Morgan embarked on a mission in the name of fashion.
She scoured online shops, boutiques and big box stores for wardrobe essentials that offered easy access in washable fabrics. It was terribly time consuming and necessitated tons of imagination – two things that most new moms are lacking. After conducting an informal survey of fellow new mom friends, she discovered that she was not alone.
Alongside her husband Brett, she hatched a business plan to offer moms on-trend clothing from designer collections and style them to take the guesswork out of getting dressed.
With Brett’s help on the financial front, Morgan put her former styling and lingerie designer experience to use as they founded BURU in late 2013. Three and a half years later, BURU’s evolution includes a sharply curated list of RTW brands including Ulla Johnson, Rachel Comey, Mara Hoffman among others—and as of August of 2016, The BURU White Label. Finding a void, Morgan launched BWL to offer elevated mom style at an attainable price point.
Though it is her mission to #elevateyourmomstyle, she is also passionate about the band of motherhood and the power women have working together. Clinically diagnosed with Bipolar, she openly shares her personal journey through Real Mom Essays on BURU’s Blog with the hope to unite and empower other moms.
